I was previously using a 16" MacBook Pro with an intel i9 CPU, the biggest problem I had with that laptop was the heat and fan noise.Įven screen recording, or taking a video call would max out the fans and cause the laptop to get extremely hot. I was surprised that I didn’t need Rosetta installed, for the most part all the major apps I used, including Hyper (for terminal) and VS Code have Apple Silicon support. The only problem here, is that with NVM, you will need to install Heroku on each node instance you plan to use, so it’s always available inside your projects. The workaround I found, which I couldn’t find documented anywhere was to install Heroku CLI using npm.Įnter fullscreen mode Exit fullscreen mode Heroku’s CLI is recommended to be installed using Homebrew, which throws a bunch of issues about x86 incompatibility. I used node version manager and installed node v14 and v17 without issues. With Homebrew and Ruby set up, the next thing I needed was Node. The only thing I noticed was that Homebrew now seems to install to /opt/homebrew instead of /usr/local/homebrew, although that might just be a later version of Homebrew, rather than an Apple Silicon specific thing. I was able to install everything natively on the arm chip, I did not need Rosetta for compatibility.įollowing the GoRails guide for Monterey using rbenv, everything installed with no problems. TLDR Everything works with only very minor issues. Prior to ordering, I had some concerns about web development on Apple Silicon and wanted to share my experience so far. I was lucky enough to get my 14" M1 Pro MacBook this week. ![]()

This is causing the printer to be unaware of the end of the label and it keeps spitting out blanks until it catches a punched out stop gap. Following the next few blank label batches, we noticed the same issue (the stop gap hole was not fully punched out). Upon expanding a full roll of ULINE labels down the shop floor, I noticed the stop gaps were sometimes not fully cut (there were obvious cut lines from whatever manufactures the labels, but some of them were still hanging on by a paper thread and did not get "punched out"). I examined the label stock more closely - we purchased several hundred rolls (we have many printers) from ULINE and they are supposed to be compatible with Dymo's. We were able to reproduce multiple blanks outputting when the Feed button was only pressed once, but again it was inconsistent. The blank labels were inconsistent (not happening every time) - laid to rest the software / driver issue theory. The printer is fairly new (~3 months) so I did not think it was dirty, but I did check sensors for dirt / obstruction / ripped labels etc.The most recent Dymo printer to experience this issue here was spitting out 3-4 blank labels about 10 times a day (machine gets used upwards of 200-300 times a day).If your printer spits out multiple labels when you hit the Feed button, there is likely either an issue with the sensors (dirty / sticker residue / broken labels) or your label stock is bad (there is a stop gap at the end of each label that the printer sensors look for to stop printing / stop ejecting more blank labels). If your printer only spits out 1 label when you hit the Feed button, it is likely a software / setting / driver issue. If you are getting multiple blank labels printed out after a good label (qty doesn't really matter), there are a few things to check. I have done some troubleshooting over the phone with Dymo and hope this might help someone.ģ Potential Problems - Software, Hardware or Label stock. Hope this saves someone else because there are a ton of people describing the same thing I am leaving preview buttons on the form in the event we need to do this again. ![]() Didn't have enough to time to test it today. To be clear it prints correctly now even if you print from the print button not just from a preview window. To my surprise I changed them to the correct values and now previews and prints correctly. Clicked File Page Setup Margins and they were not set as they were on the authoring machine. I added a preview button to the form that actually prints the labels and bingo. If there were 4 lines to print it started at the top of the label (31336 ) by printing line 3. nope ! We continued to get labels printing poorly. Van’s has made that choice for you, and you’re getting a forward-hinged tip-up canopy which provides unhindered visibility, thanks to the big Perspex bubble (there’s a chunky rollover bar behind the seats for occupant protection). Unlike most Van’s aircraft you don’t have to choose between a hinged or sliding canopy. The wings, which use the same proprietary aerofoil as the RV-10, are constant chord, constant thickness making for a simple build. In common with most aluminium aeroplanes it is essentially a semi-monocoque aluminium structure held together with solid rivets. In terms of construction, the -14 is typical Van’s. It might be a kit aircraft but the build quality and finish is every bit as good as any certified aeroplane and better than quite a few. Although it’s a bit of a cliché, the aeroplane really does look fast even when it’s parked. The deck angle and long main gear legs of the taildragger accentuate the size of the aeroplane and make it feel bigger than the RV-14A. G-ORWS has just 27 hours on her and was gleaming in the sunshine outside Bill’s hangar. In fact, Bill said several times that he feels a bit of a fraud, given that all he had to do was to follow the very detailed and clear instructions. A couple of years later, Ed Hicks and I visited the factory in Oregon, and flew the aeroplane for a feature in our August 2014 issue, so when Bill Sweetnam asked if we’d like the opportunity to fly his beautiful – and recently completed – RV-14 taildragger, let us bite your arm off, was only appropriate answer.Īt a very basic level the RV-14 can be thought of as a bigger version of the RV-7, but it is of course much more than that, drawing as it does on the experience and knowledge of the world’s biggest and most successful kit aircraft manufacturer to deliver a kit that not only performs, but is said to be its easiest to build yet. That particular aeroplane was an RV-14A, (the ‘A’ denoting a nosewheel variant), and it soon drew a large crowd of people seemingly eager to explore each and every rivet. The RV-14 first made an appearance at Oshkosh in 2012, when, unannounced, it pulled into the central static display area. It does all of this with Van’s great handling, but if that’s not enough, it’s capable (when approved by the LAA) of flying some fun level basic aeros, too. Its high speed cruise and spacious cockpit deliver great touring potential, while its outstanding low speed capability will get you in and out of all but the most extreme short grass strips. No aeroplane is perfect, but having just flown the first RV-14 to be completed in the UK, I’d say that Van’s is getting pretty close, at least in the big two-seat taildragger furrow that the RV-14 is busy ploughing. ![]() ![]() ![]() Unsurprisingly, she has an affinity for food, and has launched a cooking and baking website () that shares meals she has encountered in her volleyball-fueled world travels.
